Jesus talked about money more than any other subject. That's because nothing else reveals what's important to you than how you spend your money!
Money also plays an essential role in the ministry of Living Hope. We use the word "stewardship" to refer to what you do with your money. Every person has a responsibility to care for the things that God pours into his or her life, including personal property and money.
The Bible gives us guidance about the relationship between money and the local church. The apostle Paul said, "On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income."
(I Corinthians 16:2)
At Living Hope, we support those same principles taught by Paul: planned, personal and proportionate stewardship.
We encourage worshipers to plan their giving to Living Hope Church. When you plan your giving, you help our ministry make plans and meet needs in a consistent way. We also offer the opportunity to give online (add internal link to online giving here) to help you fulfill these plans.
We encourage worshipers to think and pray about their support of Living Hope Church. We believe giving is a personal decision prompted by the Holy Spirit.
We encourage worshipers to practice proportionate giving, using the principle of tithing. The tithe provides for giving 10 percent of one's income to the Lord. If you need encouragement in this area, check out Pastor Hamstra's article on "The Tithe" here.
Some Christians ask whether they should tithe their gross or net income. Others wonder if they should give their entire tithe to the local church. They ask if they should contribute a portion to their local church and the remainder to other Christian ministries.
Those questions will have to be answered between you and the Lord. We encourage you to practice planned, personal and proportionate giving to the Lord and His Church.
If you have a personal question about tithing, stewardship or other financial matters, please contact Pastor Hamstra at . Your request will be kept confidential.
