Trustees Move to Official Organization

Posted on Aug 3, 2011

The Board of Trustees had a great meeting this past Friday at the Country House Restaurant in Alsip, IL. During its 90-minute meeting, the Trustees not only learned that the Lord has provided for each of the congregation's needs, but also learned of and affirmed new initiatives for our ministry. Here are some of the items taken up by the Trustees:

  • They worked on developing the congregation's "Articles of Incorporation." Once those are firmed up, the Trustees will begin working on the "By-Laws." Both documents are required by the State of Illinois before a congregation can receive tax-exempt status.
  • They approved a "Cash Handling Procedure" to guide how the Sunday morning offerings are received and accounted for.
  • While a contract has been received offering us the opportunity to move our Sunday gatherings to the theatre in Crestwood, the Trustees decided, instead of spending a considerable percentage of our resources on rent, to prioritize firming up our ministry and continue meeting on the campus of Trinity Christian College.
  • They received a report from Pastor Cano outlining several new initatives, including a screening process for all those working with children, the beginning of a sermon-based discussion group, and the creation of one or two intentional discipleship groups called "Huddles."
  • They approved a holiday schedule from Pastor Hamstra, which has the congregation gathering for a Christmas celebration on December 23 or 24, NOT gathering on Sunday, December 25, and gathering on Sunday, January 1, 2012.
  • They encouraged Pastor Hamstra to communicate the ministry plan to the congregation and also provide an opportunity for the congregation to provide feedback. This will be done on Sundays August 7 & 14.
