ThunderBolts Victorious on Church Night

Posted on Jul 20, 2011

ThunderBolts GameDespite the blistering heat—game time temperature was 95 degrees—nearly 25 people made it out to Church Night with the Windy City ThunderBolts on Wednesday, July 20. The ThunderBolts took the lead early, but the Joliet Slammers tied the game in the ninth inning. The home team came out on top, however, and won it in the tenth, 4-3.

Living Hope Church was welcomed on the scoreboard by the ThunderBolts, along with other churches who came as part of the ThunderBolts "Church Night" promotion, with discounted tickets; fans also enjoyed $1 hot dogs and $1 soda. Family, friends, and members of Living Hope filled the first three rows near home plate on the third base side.

"We had a fantastic time enjoying great friends," said Rev. Chris Cano. "It was a great way to celebrate community."

Throughout the summer, Living Hope has been organizing a series events for people to spend time together outside of Sunday; next month will be a cookout at the Cano's. It is also an opportunity to be in the community, a thought echoed by Peter Holtrop, who helped to organize the event.

"It's important for us, as a church family, to spend time together, but it's also important that we spend time in our community—the very community that we want to reach for Christ," said Holtrop.
