Let's compare the history of our congregation to chapters in a book. Let's agree that the first chapter covers the six to nine months of preparation for the first Sunday morning weekly gathering on September 21, 2008. During that time the Lord brought together a Launch Team, clarified our vision, and developed our ministry team.
Let's agree that the second chapter covers the time from September 21, 2008 to the present. During this time, by God's grace, we have gathered every Sunday for passionate worship, relevant teaching, authentic community, and dynamic partnership with one another and the Lord. In the process, God has given us a core group of about fifty adults and we have established a presence and ministry to the students of Trinity Christian College.
Is it time to ask God to write a new chapter? If so, what might it look like? Will we find ways to more fully realize our objectives of multi-ethnicity? Will we discover opportunities to invite and receive others into our fellowship? Will we become not only self-supporting but a congregation that extends support to others?
To help us wrestle with these questions and others, this Sunday Pastor Hamstra will begin a series of messages from the apostle Paul's letter to the Ephesians. One of the central themes of this letter is the church. As we go through it together, we trust that the Lord will prepare us and, with us, begin writing the Third Chapter. The first two sermons will be taken from Ephesians 1:3-14. The first is entitled "Established By God's Grace," and the second, "For His Glory."
