Pastors Washington and Hamstra Honored

Posted on Nov 2, 2010

Established in 1992, the mission of Pastor Appreciation Month is to uplift and encourage pastors, missionaries, and religious workers. Living Hope honored its pastors, Pastor James Washington and Pastor Sam Hamstra, on Sunday, October 31.

Pastor AppreciationDuring the service, Living Hope Trustee Bob Payne presented both pastors with a token of the congregation's appreciation while also honoring them with his words. Payne spoke of the way in which Pastor Washington prays, ministering to the people - but also how he supports Pastor Hamstra. "Pastor James is always pointing us to God," Payne said, "so let us take this time to thank him for what he does."

The Living Hope community acknowledged that while they should show their appreciation frequently throughout the year, October is a great opportunity to specifically thank the pastors for what they do.

Speaking on behalf of the congregation in honoring Pastor Hamstra, Payne said: "We want to thank you for your leadership, your vision, and your hearty welcomes. When you come to Living Hope - you know Pastor Hamstra is glad you came. ... You bring us the Word of the Lord. Thank you."

A musical offering by Dan Lugo and Elissa Metropoulos followed as they sang "Abide With Me," a song Pastor Hamstra co-wrote.
