Donations and Volunteers Sought for Garage Sale

Posted on Mar 23, 2011

As we launch into the spring season, many will take part in some type of spring cleaning by tackling a closet or even an entire garage. As you do so, the Living Hope community encourages you to consider donating to its upcoming garage sale to be held Friday, May 6, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., and Saturday, May 7, from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. It will be held at the home of Pastor Sam and Debbie Hamstra, in Palos Hills.

Garage Sale Will Feature Variety of ItemsThe sale was put into motion this past fall by Peter Holtrop, a member of Living Hope. “I first thought of the garage sale while I was at work,” he said. “Pastor Sam challenged us to think about ways that we could grow as a church. I also was thinking of a way to raise money for the church. While at work, I found a candle luminary and thought ‘someone would buy that.’ That is when the idea came to me.”

There will be a variety of items for sale, from clothing and shoes, to household items, tools, sports equipment, movies, books, and toys. Living Hope is looking for volunteers to help with set up and take-down both on Friday and Saturday, as well as volunteers to work the sale both days. If you have donations, please contact Peter Holtrop and he will coordinate getting the items to the proper place. Please also contact him if you are willing to volunteer one or both days of the event.

“It is an opportunity to raise some money for Living Hope as well as a wonderful way to get out into the community,” Holtrop said. “We have a chance to tell people that we are Living Hope Church and what that means. We also may be able to talk with people about the saving power of Christ. And if they are looking for a church home to explore their faith, we can be that church.”
