Called to Teach and Coach

Every congregation has a number of ministries as members love the Lord and one another but, at Living Hope Church, if we had to choose between the two, we would rather see our members serve Christ in their communities than maintain programs in the church. Consequently, we keep our church programs to a minimum and encourage our members to go out and make a difference for Christ in their work place and neighborhoods. In addition, we celebrate the ways in which our members fulfill that mandate. Steve Meyers, for example, teaches music to children at the Dore Elementary School on the southwest side of Chicago. After school, he coaches basketball for Hubbard High School. (He's the big guy on the left). Steve is making a difference in the lives of young men as the Head Coach for the sophomore team and the assistant for the varsity. Even while keeping busy teaching and coaching, Steve found time to meet a young lady. He is engaged to be married to fellow-teacher Julie Olson. The couple will marry on October 17, 2009.
