Some would use the word "church" to describe us. We want to expand that label beyond the brick-and-mortar idea of an institution or place. We describe ourselves in many ways: as a fellowship, community, a gathering of people, a family.
Ultimately, the experience that people have with us goes beyond whatever word we use to capture our identity. There is much more than what we can convey in a single word.
We agree on three things:
As followers of Jesus, we embrace four primary goals:
We long to share our love for God with hearts, minds, and hands. We don't want to worship the Lord with only our minds, as if worship were but an exercise of the mind. Nor do we want to worship the Lord with only our hearts, as if worship were mindless. Nor do we want to worship the Lord with only our bodies, so we are just going through the physical motions. We believe God has called us to love Him through worship with our entire being!
We pray for and pledge ourselves to relevant teaching. How do we approach this goal?
We pledge ourselves to love one another just as God has loved us, unconditionally and without exception. We pledge ourselves to allowing the teachings of Jesus to shape our relationships with one another. We hope these commitments will create a counter-cultural and contagious community of friends, with God's help.
We pray for and pledge ourselves to dynamic partnership with God, His Church, and each other. That says we believe God is doing a great work in the world and we want to come alongside Him as we are able. We want to join with God by working with Him in the church and in the world as laborers, family members, citizens, neighbors, and friends.
